Completely re-conceived and renovated in 1996 under the sharp eyes of the late great restauranteur Joseph Baum, who was responsible for its initial creation in 1976, Windows on the World occupies the 106th and 107th floors of the World Trade Center's Building #1. The views from any of its windows are extraordinary.
Robbins had the opportunity to work with architect Hugh Hardy and graphic designer Milton Glaser in creating a Uniform Program which blended the sensibilities of each of these artists, and supported the vision of Joe Baum.
As a team, we looked at arial shots of the world from the 107th floor. Images of sky, cloud, sun, and sunset were key to each of us in creating the world of Windows on the World.
Robbins was pleased to accept the "Image of the Year Award - 1997" for the design of the Windows' Uniforms. (At its inception, the program consisted of about 1500 pieces. It opened to the Public in May of 1996.)
